Thing Thirteen: Digital Images
This Thing was all about digital images: editing, slideshows, presentations, and more! The Thing gave me many resources to use for various classroom activities: from slideshows of field trips to present to parents, to talking avatars to introduce myself to the class.
Photo Editing Software
First, I used iPiccy to edit some photos from my trip to Ghana. This website was free and easy to use. Normally, I prefer to use the Pixlr web editing app, but I enjoyed this one as well. The app allows you to crop photos, change colors, add backgrounds, and play around with collages and graphics. I found it enjoyable to use, and edited a few pictures for my slideshow. Next, I took these photos to PhotoPeach to create a slideshow, which you can view! I was able to add music as well, from Youtube or my own files. PhotoPeach was a bit more clunky and difficult to use, and I'd rather use other slideshow software in the future, but it did work well enough.

Talking Avatars
Next I was asked to use Voki to introduce myself with an Avatar. I had never seen this before, and it's a cute and fun way for students to be able to hear my voice and get to know me quickly on my website. I may use it in the future, depending on the age range of the students in my classroom. Overall, the site was easy to use and I'd recommend it for people wanting this kind of feature! It would be fun for older students to use as a way to give book reports, or reports on historical figures, as avatars can look like anyone, however, for early childhood it's a bit too complicated and not age appropriate. In addition, most of the useful content is paid content, which is difficult for schools.
