We believe Little Hands Child Care Center is a partnership. We want to build relationships with our families and would love to offer resources to help you and your little ones. Book lists
Reading to children is one of the best things you can do. We love to read to our children here at Little Hands. Here are some book lists that we feel are appropriate, entertaining, and well-written for children.
Websites
ZERO TO THREE
This website is full of information for early intervention and advocacy for young children. There are many articles about parenting and lifestyles (such as support for military families, and families with children who have special needs) as well as loads of books and local resources.
PARENT CENTER HUB
This website has lots of valuable resources for parents. This website has explanations for education related jargon as well as resources in both Spanish and English. The website is sorted by topic including: parental rights, technology, IEP, ELL, parent involvement, and more.
GRYPHON HOUSE
Gryphon House is one of the leaders in early childhood publication. This website offers over 1000 free activities for at school and at home, as well as articles such as “How to Boost Your Baby’s Vocabulary” and a weekly “Wednesday Word” with topics such as joy, heart, happy, etc. There are also tons and tons of books!
PBS KIDS
PBS offers many things outside of fun games and shows for children. They have a large section of parent resources with articles on topics such as coping with after school melt-downs to encouraging nature play and inspiring curiosity. There are also loads of free printable activities, recipes, and links to expert advice and parenting forums to help stay connected with other families.
PACER
This website is part of the Pacer Center, an organization that advocates and supports families and children with disabilities. This website offers tons of books, articles, and advice for parenting children with special needs—and getting connected with local resources.
RESOURCES FOR EARLY LEARNING
This website offers a variety of videos and articles in different topics such as math for birth to 33 months, talking and listening skills, and more. They also offer activities and resources for children 3-5 years old as well.
FAMILY EDUCATION
This is a fun and easy website to use with loads of ideas for activities, blogs and forums for parent connection, and expert articles on everything from choosing a baby name to creating bedtime routines.
HEALTHY CHILDREN
This website offers tons of information on infants and toddlers. It offers lists of ages and stages, milestones, and recommendations. It also helps connect parents with pediatricians and local doctors, lists app resources, and has resources for prenatal to young adult age levels.
ONE TOUGH JOB
This website acknowledges how tough being a parent can be and offers tons of information separated by child’s age. Topics include everything from soothing babies, to explaining how babies 4-7 months learn.
THE URBAN CHILDREN INSTITUTE
This website offers articles and advice on many topics including understanding children’s temperament, learning about social and emotional development, and more. It helps explain educational jargon and offers great advice for families to help their child succeed.
EARLY ON
This website is fantastic for children with special needs and early intervention here in the state of Michigan. This website offers charts and wheels for development at different ages and stages. They also do referrals, and comprehensive services for children!
